Andrew Smith

After graduating from Cambridge University and then working in the North West as a solicitor at one of the UK's top 100 firms, Andrew Smith joined Grindeys in 1994 and became a partner (now known as a director) in 1999.

As commercial property specialist Andrew advises on all elements of commercial property law from acquisition and disposal to landlord and tenant planning but he has a particular expertise in property finance.

His career highlights include funding and development work for a premiership football stadium and  a nuclear medicine facility for Europe’s leading cancer hospital and acting for many registered social landlords.

Outside of work he dedicates much of his time to worthwhile projects. He is a non-executive director of University Hospital North Staffordshire, Chair of Governors of Abbey Hill Special School and Performing Arts College, former Chair of Stoke on Trent Schools’ Forum, Honorary Solicitor for the Douglas Macmillan Hospice and Company Secretary of Churnet Valley Railway (1992) Plc. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a Member of the Royal Institution.
